“With BIMmTool, I can import point clouds of any size into Archicad. It also allows me to process detailed scans and quickly create complex Archicad 3D models that delight my clients.”

Andreas Raab, managing director of RA-Plan GmbH.

RA-Plan GmbH is a drawing office in Schwarzenbach, Austria. They are specialized in 3D modeling and surveying of buildings of the Founding Epoch (Gründerzeit).

The German term Gründerzeit (Founding Epoch) refers to the great economic upswing in the mid-19th century, when the founders of businesses could apparently become rich overnight. The economic development of the industry resulted massive rural migration to the cities. New city quarters have grown with often richly decorated facades to accommodate the new population.

Mr. Andreas Raab, could you, please, introduce yourself?

We started the company in 2001. Initially, we surveyed with a distance meter; then, I switched to Flexijet. Since 2012, we have been surveying using 3D laser scanners.

Currently, we use a Faro Focus 3D and Archicad 26. With 21 years of experience in as-built planning and 3D modeling, we can draw on the necessary know-how.

How many colleagues do you have, and what is the company’s usual activity?

The company has four employees. Our range of work includes 2D as-built plans and detailed 3D models of elaborately and richly decorated Gründerzeit houses.

What challenges do you usually encounter when working with point clouds?

The elaborate cornices and ornaments on the houses, often under monumental protection, are a significant challenge. Measuring these details from the ground is only possible using 3D laser scanning.

Wo are your clients? What do they expect from you in your cooperation?

My clients come from all kinds of planning offices that use these 3D models for further planning.

What are the main reasons for choosing BIMmTool?

With BIMmTool, I can import point clouds of any size into Archicad. It also allows me to process detailed scans and quickly create complex Archicad 3D models that delight my clients.
